Dear Friends,

“God is moving!” That’s the only way I can describe all that’s happened since Soaring Wings Ranch was incorporated as a non-profit organization on May 6, 2002. Feeling very much like Abraham, who “went out, not knowing whither he went,” with nothing more than faith and a promise, Marla and I moved to Conway with a dream of building a home for children. I didn’t know the what, when, where, or how of it. I only knew the Who.

Since then, God has blessed us with 200 acres of land, site development, temporary offices, food and clothing center, a hospitality house, an entry gate and fence across the front of the property, and the first two homes (one for girls/one for boys). And Soaring Wings remains “debt free.”

After receiving our operating license from the State and hiring two sets of house parents, we welcomed our first children to Soaring Wings Ranch on August 1, 2007. Soon we will reach our present capacity of 16 children, which means there is a genuine need for additional facilities. Yes, God is moving, but we have only begun. Many more challenges lie in the future, but I’ve learned that life is not just soaring on wings. Sometimes, it’s just walking and not fainting.
